Marovo Island Traders Founder Matt Woodfield has a long career of freediving and subsistence living in the Solomon Islands with the people of Marovo Lagoon.

His connection with the people and land created an opportunity to produce an eco-sustainable income for the community. His mission was to find pathways to maintain harmony with this pristine paradise and share the history, wisdom and culture of the coral coastlines.

He established a social enterprise that allows local artisans and oceanic carvers to create bespoke homewares utilising the most abundant stone in the Solomon Islands, ancient fossil coral. The result? An enterprise that generates income and a more sustainable future for the local community – and beautiful collectables.
